Skin boosters and Rejuran, after the hype

The old domain sold Rejuran Healer and a whitening booster as popular treatments. A calmer guide to injectable hydration — what it is asked to do, and who leaves disappointed.

The archived homepage listed Rejuran Healer from eight hundred dollars and a “Whitening QQ Skin Booster” from five hundred, with a parenthetical LATEST. It also ran a blog title that has aged better than the prices: four types of people who get disappointed by skin booster treatment.

That title is still the essay.

What is being injected

Hyaluronic acid boosters are moisture in a form that sits in the skin for a while. Polynucleotide products — Rejuran is the name most people here still use — are sold as a repair story, a “salmon DNA” sentence that should make a careful person ask for the actual ingredient and the licence, not a fish.

Neither is a facelift. Neither is a HIFU. Neither will raise a nose bridge; the old site sold that separately, as thread, which is another essay and another risk.

What people want when they want a booster

Less dryness after a day of air-conditioning. A bit of bounce in a photograph. Pores that photograph less loudly. A glow that makeup can sit on. These are quality-of-skin wishes. They are legitimate and they are modest. The disappointment arrives when the wish was secretly a new face.

If the dryness starts in the bathroom — a foam cleanser, no moisturiser, a retinoid debuted on a wet face — read daily care before you book a needle. Injecting a climate problem is possible. It is also funny in a sad way.

The hour and the week

Numbing cream. A grid of tiny injections. Papules that look like a rash of millet for a day or two — longer in some faces. Bruises if you have a meeting. Makeup later, or not. A course, because one session is usually sold as a hello.

Whitening, as a word, should make you sit up. Pigment is a type, not a filter a booster can apply. If the pitch is “white,” ask whether they mean “less dull on a Tuesday,” which is different, and still not a promise.

Cost and courses

Observed menus still put many booster sessions in the mid-hundreds to around a thousand, packages higher. The old “from $500 / from $800” was a door price. Door prices do not include the course. See cost bands.

Who should not nod along

People with active infection on the face. People who want a lift. People who have not been asked about allergies, immune disease, pregnancy. People who cannot accept a papule week before a wedding. People who were not told that “baby skin” is a slogan.

Questions

What, exactly, is in the syringe? Is this a filler used as a booster, or a booster? How many sessions before we judge? What does disappointment look like in your chair? Who injects — a doctor I can search?

The old blog was right to write about disappointment first. Keep that order and the needle is allowed to be a small tool.

Papules, bruises and the Monday meeting

The millet-like bumps are often expected and still look like an allergic event if nobody showed you a photograph in advance. Bruises along a vessel are ordinary. Concealer, if allowed, is a craft. A board meeting at 9am the next day is a calendar error.

Ask where they will not inject — the area under the eye has its own rules and its own way of looking puffy. Ask what they do if a papule lasts longer than their script.

“Whitening” as a word that should slow the room

If the booster is sold as whitening, ask whether they mean a little less dullness from hydration, which is possible and modest, or a change in your baseline colour, which is a different, ethically noisier claim. Singapore’s advertising norms are not a technicality. They are how rooms tell you whether they are careful.

A brightening cream you will use and a needle you will fear are not rivals. They are a sequence. The cream is allowed to go first.

Courses, pauses, and the quiet face

Many people are sold three sessions. Some faces look the same after three. You are allowed to pause and spend the rest on sunscreen and a humidifier. You are allowed to decide that the papule week is not worth a glow that only you remember. Disappointment, as the old blog said, has types. Know yours before the needle.

How to read a consent form for a booster

Look for the actual ingredient, the lot if they will write it, the area, the expected papule period, the infection warning, and the after-hours number. If the form is a paragraph about glow, it is a brochure. Ask for the medical one.

Ask whether this product is licensed for this use in this country. “Popular in Korea” is a travel sentence, not a licence.

Combining boosters with everything else

A booster week plus a peel week plus a wedding week is a pile. Sequence. Hydration on a face that is still shedding is how people collect irritation and call it detox. Your timeline wins. The trolley does not.

Dullness that is a life, not a syringe

A month of air-con, a new baby, a grant deadline — dullness will visit. A booster can be a kindness. A humidifier, sleep, and a cream can be a kindness that does not papule. You are allowed to choose the second and still respect people who choose the first. What you are not allowed, if we are being adults, is to call either a new face.

Bruising calendars for the under-eye-curious

Even if the booster is not meant as a tear-trough filler, faces bruise. If you have a portrait in ten days, the booster can wait. If you take medicines that thin blood, say so. A glow is not worth a photograph you cannot publish. The papules will go. The date will not move.

Papules, parties, and the photograph you cannot postpone

A booster week can look like a face that has opinions. If you have a dinner, a shoot, or a client meeting, put those on the table before the needle. “Tiny bumps” is a phrase that means different things to a brochure and to a person sitting under restaurant light.

Ask how many sessions they believe you need, what they will do if session one does nothing, and whether the product in the drawer is the product on the consent form. Substitutions happen. They should not be a surprise.

If dullness is the complaint, also read the routine. A syringe cannot hydrate a life that is all air-conditioning and no sleep. Sometimes the booster is reasonable. Sometimes it is a very expensive metaphor.

Questions people ask

What is a skin booster?
In clinic speech it is usually a shallow injection of a hydrating or bio-material — often hyaluronic acid, sometimes polynucleotides — aimed at quality of skin rather than a change of shape.
Is Rejuran the same as a filler?
No. Fillers are typically used to add or restore volume in a feature. Boosters and PN products are sold as skin quality. Different jobs, different risks.
Who is likely to be disappointed?
People expecting a lift, a new jaw, or a permanent glow; people whose dryness is really a climate-and-cleanser problem; people who were not told about papules and downtime.
