Mole Removal

Mole removal in Singapore

Everyone has moles on their skin. Some are born with them, some appear later in life. Most of the time, we ignore them because they do not give problems. Concerns arise when they appear on our face, especially when the moles are big or protruding, because they are unsightly. After all, face is the first thing we are drawn to when we see a person.

What causes moles?

Genetic determines the number of moles a person has. An individual with a large number of moles, i.e. more than 100, is at an increased risk of developing skin cancer.

Sun exposure plays an important role in the development of moles. But these moles tend to appear later in life. Therefore it is important to apply sun screen before getting exposed to sun.

I don’t like the mole on my cheek. Can I have it removed?

Yes*. Moles can be removed either by radiofrequency ablation or surgical excision depending on the character of the mole. Some moles can be removed by laser but more than 1 session is usually required. Mole removal takes 5 to 10 minutes and can be done on the same visit. It is important to get it assessed by a doctor to get the right diagnosis, and to recommend the best removal technique. Generally, we remove a mole that:

- bothers you

- you find unattractive

- could be a skin cancer

How do I tell a mole from a skin cancer (melanoma)?

Melanoma typically changes in terms of size and colour. You can use the rule of ABCDE to monitor any moles you have.

Asymmetry: A mole that is not symmetrical

Border: A mole that does not have well defined border

Colour: A mole that darkens over a short period of time

Diameter: A mole larger than ¼ inch in diameter, or growing in size quickly

Elevation: A mole that is raised above the skin with rough surface

If your mole has any of these characters, consult a doctor immediately

Painful*?

Pain is minimal. A numbing injection is given before the procedure. With laser removal, a numbing cream is applied to the treated area before treatment.

Will there be a scar?

Depending on the depth of the mole and the type of removal technique, there may be a faint scar. If the mole has deep roots, we can minimize scarring by removing the mole over 2 to 3 sessions, 6 to 8 weeks apart.*

What happens after the procedure?

A scab will form over the removal area. Do not worry. It will fall off after 1 to 2 weeks when your new fresh skin grows underneath. Do not remove the scab forcefully. If your mole is very big and stitching is required, you will be asked to return to have the stitches removed in 2 weeks.*

Any complications?

Mole removal is safe. Sometimes, there may be mild bleeding during the procedure but it can be stopped easily. You may experience redness or itching over the mole removal area that will go away in a few days. Infection is very rare.

Mole removal is quick and safe, and can be done on the same day visit!

Dear doctor, I have some moles on my upper body and wish to get it removed but I'm not comfortable to visit beauty spa as they are all females and I don't really trust their skills. Would like to check if your clinic can help? Would also like to enquire about the charges. Thanks.
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi Jeff. Please call 62350338, or contact us for the pricing. It is best to come in to let us assess your moles to determine if they are safe to be removed by laser. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi! I would like to have a mole removed but. I have aqua lessons every week. will it affect the recovery? Thanks!
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

It is best to avoid swimming in the first 2 days after mole removal. After that, it is ok to engage in water activities. It should not affect the recovery.

Hi, I have a mole behind my neck, would there be any complications of removal?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Complications can be discussed when you come in.It is best to come in to let us have a look at the mole so we can discuss the best way to remove it. Most of the time, a simple mole can be easily removed with RF ablation or laser with no complications. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Thank u, Dr Sii for patiently removing my 11 moles. Yah... I have quite a lot. Hehe! I have to say he is a very patient and gentle doctor. He was very thorough in his explanation and would keep checking if u are alright during the procedure. Price wise, it is definitely cheaper than other aesthetic doctors. Well.. Doctor, I have a question regarding the Curiosin gel u gave. How often should I apply it? Is it the more often, the better for the healing? Then when do I stop applying? Is it when the scab has fallen off or continue even after the scab has fallen? Thank u so much. :)
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

You are welcome. It is my pleasure to help get rid of your moles. You can apply twice a day (morning and evening), just a thin layer over the wounds would do. Apply for 2 weeks, even after the scabs have fallen off. It will help reduce scarring as well. Do not hesitate to come back if there are any problems.

hi Dr, wana ask what is the cost range for a mole exision? i am quite concern if there will there be a scar left after that as its on the face? and also.. how long will it take to recover? thank you
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Mole excision price depends on the size and complexity. Excision will definitely leave a scar because suturing is required. Recovery time is about 7-10 days when sutures will be removed. Scar will become faint over time. It is best to come in and let us assess the mole visually to determine if excision is needed. There are other less invasive ways to remove moles with less risk of scarring. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

I have a raised mole on my nose, what procedure is best for it and how much is the cost for the treatment. Thank you!
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi Sophia. Raised mole is best removed with radiofrequency ablation or excision, depending on whether the mole shows any characteristics suspicious of skin cancer. Please call 62350338 or contact us here for pricing: https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi there, I want to remove a mole under my eye but I am scared that it will be painful. The mole is not protruding out. How much will the procedure be and how long will it take? I can be contacted at 9129 2593. Thank you
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi Natalia. We will give you local anaesthesia before the procedure if required so it would be completely painless during the procedure. Local anaesthesia injection will be a little uncomfortable. Mole removal charges can be discussed privately. Please call 62350338 or email us at [email protected] It only takes about 10-15 minutes. We will contact you via mobile for appointment.

If i did q switch laser lets say few days to 2 week ago, issit possible to do mole removal too?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Yes, it is possible. I presume you did Q switch laser for facial pigmentation. We need to assess your mole to determine the best method to remove your mole. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to come in for mole removal. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi, i did a mole removal once but it left a scar there. so do i still do a mole removal? or there is a different section for it?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

I do not understand your question. Do you mean if there is anything we can do to help you with the scar?

Hi doctor, Is it ok to have an excision procedure done on my protruding mole on my face when I am pregnant?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi there. Yes, it is ok. Only local anaesthesia is required, which is safe for your pregnancy.

Hi doctor, I have a mole that is protruding out slightly on my head. I will be shaving my head soon and hope to have it removed then. Will there be any complications since it's on my scalp? And how much will it cost? :)
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi. It depends on the size and the character of the mole. Generally, a simple mole (even if it is protruding) can be removed easily. Please call 62350338, or contact us here for pricing: https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

What happens if the mole grows back after the first treatment? Will I be charged for a subsequent removal of the same mole?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

If the mole grows back, please come back to see us so we could advise you better. Standard charges for mole removal will apply.

Hi, I have a mole on the neck (near the throat), will you be using a numbing injection before the procedure and will it affect my speech since it is near the throat? When do you use ablation and excision for the removal? Lastly, how do you access whether the mole is unsafe for removal?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Most moles require numbing injection before removal. Injection is given very superficially. It will not affect your speech at all. Most benign moles can be removed with ablation. Excision is only performed if the mole is too big, or looking suspicious of skin cancer. All moles can be removed safely with appropriate technique.

Hi Dr, what is the cost to remove a skin tag? Thanks.

Hi, I have a mole on my nose that a previous doctor claims is a mole within a blood vessel. Is it removable and will the std charges of $120+consultation apply or will it be more? In addition, I have new moles popping up on my hand. If I remove them, will they pop up again? Thanks!
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi there. I am not sure what it means by a mole within a blood vessel. It is best if you come in so we can make a proper visual assessment. There is a risk of recurrence for any moles that have been removed. For pricing, please call 62350338 or contact us here https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi doctor. I have more than 5 moles on my face. Few years ago, I had went to Jean Yip for mole removal but it didn't work and costly. May I know is your treatment is really work? Because I really want to get rid of this..
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi Jane. It is best to come in to let us take a look at your moles. Generally, there is a small risk of mole recurrence for any mole we remove. Most moles can be removed completely. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi, can I just check if I need to make any appointment to remove one of my mole or if I could just walk in to any of the clinics during the stated operating hours? Do you accept cards and it the cost or removal is the same for all clinics and regardless size of mole?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Hi there. It is best to book an appointment for Scotts clinic. For Robertson, Bencoolen and Somerset, you can walk in. Yes, we accept credit cards and nets. Cost is the same across the clinics. In terms of size, it is best to come in and let us assess first. Not all moles can be removed the same way. https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

I have a mole on my nose exactly on TOP of my nose. Is it possible to remove it?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Yes, of course it is possible. It is best to come in and let us take a look at your mole to decide the best way to remove it. You can find us here https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi doctor, I have a mole somewhere below my nose and above my lips. It has a diameter of about 0.5cm and slightly protruding. I have read the previous comments about charges. Just want to find out what if after the treatment it grows back, is there any charges for following up?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

If the mole recurs, please come in and see us so we can do a proper assessment. Standard charges will apply.

May I know what is your suggested way of treatment for the type of mole i suggested earlier on? As it is on the face, I'm worried about scarring.
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

I'm not sure what you meant. We use different methods to remove moles based on the size and type of moles. Whatever method is being used, there is a risk of scarring (including PIH).

Hi, I'm afraid of needles. May I know what type of moles are suitable when opting for numbing cream? I have a slightly raised mole about 0.2cm big. At the same time, which treatment would you suggest? Thank you!
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Numbing cream is suitable for tiny moles. It is best to come in to let us assess your mole and advise you appropriately. You can call 62350338 or contact us here: https://skinaesthetics.sg/contact

Hi, you've mentioned that usually mole removal will require more than 1 session. So i'd like to know, will there be additional charges for the removal of the same mole for the subsequent sessions?
Dr Sii Sik Liong's picture

Most moles can be removed in 1 session. If more than 1 session is required, this will be discussed further by the doctors.
